Overview

Languages can be exported from the system as language packs, exporting all of the customized phrases and actual phrases into one XML file. These XML files can be backed up, moved to other installations or shared.

This same XML file can also be imported directly into your Fusion, Resolve and Engage installation. You can download language packs that have been released by community members at the Kayako forums (http://forums.kayako.com).

View and manage language import/export

In order to view and manage the language import and export, click Import/Export under Languages on the Options menu, as shown

Exporting a language

Once you are in the Export section, you need to fill out the options so as to export the required language

Language To Export Select the language you wish to export

Click Export after selecting the preferred language, and you will then be asked to save an XML file. This is the language pack data file, containing all of the language pack information and phrases.

Importing a language pack

Once you are in the Import section, you need to fill out the options so as to import the required language pack

XML File to Import Click on the Choose File button to open up a file selector, that will allow you to select an XML language pack file form your hard disk drive.
Method Of Import Select from the following two methods:
  • Create New Language: If this option is selected, a new language is inserted in the support desk, based on the XML file being selected.
  • Select Language: Language packs can be merged with one another. To merge the importing language pack with another, select the language to merge using the drop down menu.
Any existing phrase customizations (that exist in the language being merged to) will be lost, if the phrase definition also exists in the importing language pack.
Bypass Version Check If the language pack was exported from an older version of support desk or is obsolete from the one you are currently running, the system will return an error when you try to import the language pack unless you set this option to Yes. The system warns you in this way because sometimes language files change (phrases added or change) between versions.

Click on the Import button to proceed with the language pack import.
